The Holy Father Leo XIV has appointed Msgr. Simone Renna, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for the Clergy, as Rector of the Pontifical Major Roman Seminary.

The Holy Father Leo XIV has appointed Msgr. Simone Renna, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for the Clergy, as Rector of the Pontifical Major Roman Seminary.

Msgr. Renna, a priest of the Archdiocese of Lecce, has served in recent years at the Dicastery for the Clergy, first as an Official and, since 2022, as Undersecretary. In this capacity, he has contributed with competence, dedication and generosity to the mission of the Dicastery, with particular attention to the life and ministry of priests and to priestly formation.

His new responsibility will now lead him to devote himself more directly to the accompaniment and formation of young men called to the priesthood, assuming the leadership of the Pontifical Major Roman Seminary, where he himself spent the years of his formation.

The Prefect, the Secretary and the entire staff of the Dicastery for the Clergy express to Msgr. Simone Renna their profound gratitude for the competent, generous and dedicated service he has rendered over these years, and extend to him their warmest good wishes for this new and important responsibility entrusted to him by the Holy Father.

They accompany him with their prayers, entrusting his new ministry to the Lord, that it may bear abundant fruit in service to the Church of Rome and, in particular, in the accompaniment of young men preparing to give their lives to Christ and to his People through the priestly ministry.
