Meeting of the Consultors of the Dicastery for the Clergy
10–12 November 2025
The Meeting of the Consultors, held at the headquarters of the Dicastery for the Clergy, has concluded. This gathering brings together consultors from various countries and ecclesial contexts for a moment of exchange, listening, and shared work.
The sessions were opened by the greeting of Cardinal Lazzaro You Heung-sik, Prefect of the Dicastery, who warmly welcomed all participants, especially those attending for the first time. “Your presence,” he stated, “is a precious gift, a sign of the richness of experiences, competences, and sensitivities that flow together in our common service to the universal Church.”
The Cardinal Prefect emphasized the deeply synodal character of the meeting: “Synodality is not a theoretical concept but a way of life: walking together, discerning together, serving together. In these days, we want to listen to one another with sincerity and openness.”
He also recalled that the role of the Consultors is not a mere formality but a real contribution to the service of the Holy See: a sign of esteem, trust, and shared responsibility. “The way we work together,” he added, “is already a model that other Dicasteries look to with interest: a genuine example of good ecclesial practice.”
The three-day program alternated moments of study, plenary discussions and thematic groups, liturgical celebrations, and two significant Jubilee pilgrimages: passing through the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica and of the Basilica of St Mary Major, with moments of community prayer.
The main topics addressed in the sessions included the ministry of the diaconate; vocational ministry and ongoing formation; and the 60th anniversary of the conciliar decrees Presbyterorum Ordinis and Optatam Totius.
Ample space was also dedicated to presenting the work of “Study Group 4” of the Synod of Bishops regarding the revision of the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis in a synodal and missionary key.
The Meeting of the Consultors concluded with Holy Mass in St Peter’s Basilica and a moment of fraternity at the Domus Sanctae Marthae.
