Permanent Formation Meetings for the Dicastery Personnel
“For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission”
Today, 17 December 2025, the first meeting of the new internal permanent formation itinerary dedicated to the reception and in-depth study of the Final Document of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops will take place.
The programme, running from December 2025 to June 2026, includes six formation days, each dedicated to one of the five Parts of the Synodal Document, as well as a final meeting for synthesis and evaluation.
The inaugural day is presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, together with Fr. Giacomo Costa, SJ, Special Secretary of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod. The day will begin with the celebration of Holy Mass at 8:15 a.m., followed by greetings and an introductory presentation, including guiding questions to accompany participants in the subsequent “Conversation in the Spirit”, carried out in small groups with the support of trained facilitators.

9:00–9:45 a.m. – Greetings and introductory presentation
10:00–11:15 a.m. – Conversation in the Spirit in groups, guided by Fr. Giacomo Costa, SJ
11:15–11:35 a.m. – Coffee break
11:35 a.m.–12:35 p.m. – Plenary feedback and dialogue with the speaker

The journey will progressively address the major themes of synodality
December 2025 – Introduction to the synodal process
January 2026 – The heart of synodality: called to conversion
February 2026 – The conversion of relationships
March 2026 – The conversion of processes
April 2026 – The conversion of bonds
May 2026 – Forming a people of missionary disciples
June 2026 – Concluding meeting of communion and evaluation
The entire programme adopts the methodology of “Conversation in the Spirit” as a privileged instrument of communal discernment, in fidelity to the style and indications of the synodal journey.
